KUALA LUMPUR City Hall (DBKL) has sealed 27 premises in Bandar Tun Razak constituency after their owners defaulted on their assessment fee.
The City Hall said that an operation on Nov 13 had sealed the premises with a total debt exceeding RM600,000. "After numerous reminders and warnings given to the owners, an operation has been carried out to ensure persistent assessment fee defaulters are held accountable," it said. The premises were seized under Section 148 of the Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171) as part of the process to recover the arrears. "If the debt remains unpaid, the next step will be to detain and sell the property under Section 151. "All operational costs will be borne by owners or tenants who persist in evading their obligations to pay tax. "Paying assessment tax is a shared responsibility of all premises owners and delaying it would only increase the amount," said DBKL on Facebook on Saturday (Nov 15).
